Coveting these simple contemporary everyday-ware from Danish ceramist, Rigmor Als Jorgensen. She wanted to create objects that would interact with other objects in the home without drawing attention to themselves but how do you do that when the pieces are so amazingly beautiful . She writes in her profile:
“In my design I aim at giving my design a signal of lightness, simplicity, and a touch of humour."

“Layers of memories can become symbols of the environment in which they belong. In this way they rise above their original functionality to achieve a talismanic status. These objects are far more likely to be humble, functional items than the decorative ones placed out of harm's way on the mantelpiece or shelf.
It is for these reasons that I make functional ceramics, as opposed to purely decorative items. I would like to think that some of my work might achieve this symbolic status in another family's life by becoming a well-used and familiar part of their domestic scenery.”

Admiring these colorful and functional porcelain pieces created by Nancy Pizarro and Andy Witt for their Etsy shop, Circa Ceramics. Looking forward to following the career of multi-disciplined Swedish artist, Fideli Sundqvist. The byline on her website is paper art, illustration and graphic design. She is a recent graduate so I’m sure she will be exploring other mediums as well which makes me anxious to see more of her work

You’ve probably seen the animal mugs featured in Real Simple magazine recently. The mugs and beautiful white vases were manufactured by Japanese company, Kinto. They’re available here in the U.S. at Korin, a tableware and knife shop located in New York. Love the white on white of those vases.
