Didn't think I would post another Etsy treasury list but I couldn't resist posting this trend. Pantone color for 2012 is called Tangerine Tango, Pantone 17-1463. My interpretation is a bit lighter than what they call for but you do get the gist that warm orange is expected ahead.

Tomoko Noguchi

Admiring the beautiful simplicity of these knitted items from Japanese knitting designer-artist, Tomoko Noguchi. She creates these wonderful pieces under the brand name, Eccomin. Would love to quote her regarding her work but she seems to be a woman of a few words. I have only been able to gather this from her profile:

“Cannot imagine life without dogs and Knit! I love knitting! I love dogs!”

Ken Eardley

Admiring the ceramic pieces of Brighton-based artist, Ken Eardley. He has taken his background as textile designer and applied his knowledge and ideas into this bold and colorful collection of ceramics. You can see his portfolio here at Yellow House Art.

Les Habits Neufs

Don’t be so quick to throw away those fabric scraps. Look what French manufacturer, Les Habits Neufs, has done with them. Discovered them through Japanese online shop, Francjour. I’m particularly loving those lamp shades.

Par Courrier

Was reading Swedish blog, Katarina’s Verden, and discovered a link to this great shop, Par Courrier. They have some wonderful decorative pieces for the home so browse their shop when you get a chance. Anyway, I found another project from this store to add to my “to do” list. Would love to make this tree lamp out of California driftwood, maybe after the holiday madness.

Karen Bit Vejles

Very few have mastered psaligraphy, the art of drawing or painting with scissors, as intricately and painstakingly as Norwegian artist, Karen Bit Vejle. A deep commitment to this art form has brought about a style and technique that are uniquely her own. Visit her website where you can see and be amazed by the larger exhibition pieces in her gallery. She writes:

“My heart and soul are at peace when I have the scissors in hand and the paper dances between the blades. If my scissors can manage to make you stop and wonder for just one instant, I will be happy.”

Didn't think I would be posting another treasury list so soon but HGTV and Etsy collaborated on a treasury challenge, "HGTV color of the month, grape". I love a good challenge so, of course, I had to give it a shot. Really loving that grape, aka purple, rare Herman Miller Eames shell chair.

Jonathan Chapman aka Mr. Yen

Admiring the intricate hand cut paper work of UK graphic designer, Jonathan Chapman, available on his online shop, Mr. Yen. Really liking what he says about his work:

“I started freelance designing as I wanted some control over how, where, when and why I do what I do as I wanted to be fully responsible for my work and what it represents.

I taught myself to papercut through hours, days, months and years of practice, persistence and patience and through doing so, I've found a passion for my technique, tools and materials. My passion for my medium and technique drives me to work hard and I believe that hand cut artwork and designs have more value than laser/machine cut pieces as you can see the human element within them - whether that is a slightly angular curve or the fact that a single design will have slight variations between each piece cut.”
