Didn’t think I would be writing about umbrellas this late into Spring but the El Nino year has brought us a lot of much needed rain. The umbrellas are available at Japanese design store, Sixem. Illustrations are by Japanese artist, Kayo Horaguchi. I'm liking the unconventional handles and the bottle shape on the bottom design so I just had to show you.

I love the vintage packaging and graphics of French haberdashery, Sajou, which I happened upon through Selvedge magazine. At home you can find out a little bit more about them and purchase some of their merchandise through needlework shop, The Silver Needle. Eyeing that “History of Thread” book myself.

Whenever I’m at Japantown mall, I will usually spend an hour browsing through books and magazines at Kinokuniya. They have recently added more gift items in their store and carrying brands from local talents.
One such brand is Flowie, a company that designs and manufactures not only hand-screened linen and cotton fabrics but fashion and home accessories as well. Check out their online store and find out more about their designer, Yaling Hou, at her website.
